Breath Of Fresh Air - handmade brooch

My latest creation, new brooch, this time I used my photograph of the same name Breath Of Fresh Air to create this brooch. I used decoupage technique over polymer clay to make it, then created crochet frame for the brooch from beautiful cotton ecru thread. It is sealed with high gloss glaze for protection from the elements, so it is water resistant, but not waterproof. It has metal pin on the back.How do you find it guys? :)

This is first brooch created from my illustrations, it was just obvious that these Kittens suppose to be not only drawing! I chose to make it in decoupage technique on polymer clay. Image is printed and lovingly hand painted with acrylics on top with special touch of bright red enamel for the heart part. Brooch is covered with protective shiny gloss and have metal pin on the back. And, of course, signed :)

Polar Bear

Polar bears are the largest predators on land, and they are the largest of all bears. It is more than twice as big as the Siberian tiger. Polar bear fur which appear white is actually transparent. Polar bears live only in Arctic areas that surround the North Pole—not in Antarctica, which surrounds the South Pole. School children often see illustrations of penguins and polar bears together, but this could never happen. In fact, the word arctic comes from the Greek word for bear, and Antarctic comes from the Greek meaning the opposite, without bear.

I wish I could keep this giant cutie at home :)

"What’s Old is New Again!" is Artbeads new blogging challenge. It was a great luck for me because I had old watch parts which I was eager to incorporate in jewelry. Idea formed momentarily and it was very easy to choose necessary supplies from a great variety Artbeads has: Vintage Beads, Retro Buttons, Steampunk, Base Metal, Kabela Design, Resin Cameos. I chose beautiful Czech Fire-Polished Beads, Swarovski Pearls in Night Blue color, my all time favorite Miyuki delicas and Toho rocailles and antique brass findings to make the look harmonic with my watch parts. My order arrived safe, beautifully packaged with a lovely personal note and all my supplies were the highest quality as usual. One of the new products for me were Czech Fire-Polished Beads, which I didn't use much before. They fitted my design perfectly and added special shine and look, I found them to very versatile. Since this project they are my new must haves.

This piece was one of my first embroidery necklaces and I loved the technique a lot! Will be definitely back to it in my new designs.

It is a great honor and luck to be Artbeads blogging program participant. I want to thank all Artbeads team for this wonderful opportunity!

This relief is hand casted in resin with bronze powder, painted with gold leaf and covered with climate proof varnish. Sides are beaded with black and bronze Japanese rocailles. Magnet measures 2.25" x 1.75"

It is said that people with violet auras are forward looking visionaries who may be in occupations such as performance artist, photographer, venture capitalist, astronaut, futurist, or quantum physicist.

For this beaded flower earrings I used precious golden and various violet Toho seed beeds, sparkly Swarovski crystals (of course :)) and for the backing I crocheted flower with metallic golden threads. Earrings are suspended from gold-filled ear wires.

necklace Empress of Ice

As a member of Artbeads blogging program I was asked to create a ‘Winter Enchantment’ design that represents what I find beautiful or inspirational about the winter season. My inspiration for creating this necklace was feminine side of the winter as I see it, I imagined dazzlingly beautiful, icy-cold, opulent Lady, Empress of Ice.

I chose lots of crystal clear Swarovski stones, as nothing can show winter shine how they do! Centerpiece is fabulous Swarovski Octagon, at first I underestimated the size choosing it from my screen, but when I saw it in person it appeared to be an impressive crystal monster. Luckily we worked together very well :)

This was the first time I worked with silver-plated xilions, and I found them to be very versatile stones. They fitted my design quite easily and shined well together with the centerpiece. For bead-weaving work I chose Miyuki delicas and Toho rocailles loved by me for their quality and uniformity and Swarovski (of course!) bicones. One of the discoveries for me was Crystal CAL, this was the first time I saw it in reality and can tell you that it was love from the first sight. It is very tough to resist my desire to order all possible sizes of it in enormous quantities, and I am not sure how much longer I can hold myself :)

I enjoyed inventing this necklace very much! It is a great honor and luck to be Artbeads blogging program participant. I want to thank all Artbeads team for this wonderful opportunity!

Colors of Fall necklace

I am very happy to share with you my new jewelery design Colors of Fall necklace. I made it as a participant of Artbeads blogging program.

Inspiration for this necklace came from gorgeous colors of our autumn. This year luckily fall was very long and warm with only slight signs of frost in the mornings. So there were no question, main color palette for the necklace would be bright shiny red mixed with bronze and teal exactly how were leaves and sky this fall.

I started necklace with wonderful TOHO seed beads: metallic bronze, silver-lined teal and siam ruby, with accents of silver-lined teal magatamas and it really shined as you can imagine with such a variety of silver-lined and metallic finishes. I was slightly concerned with durability of metallic and silver-lined seed beads, but it surprised me, not even one got damaged while working. I was happy to find good quality metallic beads finally.

I was very curious to work with cubic zirconia, so orange oval drop in cubic zirconia worked just perfectly as centerpiece with simple column beads of the same color as a side accents. As expected orange drop looked more like red, very bright red, I ordered based on the photo, not the name and great quality of Artbeads product presentation did it's job, color was exactly how I wanted.

For embellishments I chose sparkly bicones from swarovski section in indicolite golden shadow and vitrail colors, and rounds in hyacinth. Colors worked great, I am sure I can trust planning colors for the new project from the screen when ordering from Artbeads. Final touches were made with gorgeous leaf from czech glass leaf beads and teal green leaf bead from vintage section.

I truly enjoyed working on this project and hope this enjoyment contributed to the look of the necklace. Thanks a lot to Artbeads for giving me such a great opportunity, wonderful quality materials, friendly communication, prompt shipment. It was my pleasure to work with the whole team.

Autumn Sunshine update

I got in my possession wonderful Swarovski XILION Chaton recently in variety of colors with Peridot among them. Intense green color fitted perfectly to Peridot color of the Crystal rivoli of the centerpiece of the necklace. So I had no choice but to add a couple of additional elements to my Autumn Sunshine. Adding earrings seemed like not bad idea also :) Enjoy :)

I am personally a big fan of hibiscus in any color or shape so obviously one of the first flowers I wanted to learn to bead was hibiscus. I choose a pattern of talented Kerrie Slade called Hibiscus Twist and modified middle part to make it look more like real flower and inspiration for that was a great find of Melissa Grakowsky's Hibiscus, (unfortunately Melissa is not selling the pattern for it yet), I studied Melissa's work, researched real pictures of hibiscus, learned what is herringbone stitch and here is the result of my experiments, please welcome it nicely :)
